yes, perfectly still. I like the effect of the scum. looks like milk. Continue the great work. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the comment on my blog, very much appreciated
Just occasionally people stop at the beach and watch this guy walk down the beach towards the breaking waves. He stands and waits for the next big wave, takes a photograph just before it hits him – and runs like hell up the beach. The exercise is repeated several times until he either a) gets the picture, b) gets soaked, or c) grows weary. That’s the technique – if that’s the right word to use – and just occasionally it works. Glad you like it, the Exif data is ISO 100, 1/500 @ f11
Nice one George. Is this still the Canon D5? It does not matter…it’s the photographer and his eyes that count. A lovely picture and you wouldn’t get that from the Swiss Alps where I live.

How did you manage to get so close, and manage to get such a perfect still. What iso and film speed were you shoot at. This is brilliant.

Oh, wow, what a surf. Love the rich saturation of b&w.

Really fabulous shot of the foaming waves. I like your “technique” but have one follow-up question. How do you keep your gear dry?!

the honest answer is hope…run fast…and don’t fall over.
