Not the most creative picture I’ve produced, but it’s location makes it worth posting. The rather unusual viewpoint of Cobh (pronounced cove) and formerly called Queenstown in County Cork was taken from another ship and shows the beautiful Georgian terraced houses and St Coleman’s Cathedral in way that’s well nigh impossible in the city.
It was the embarkation point for many Irish people who emigrated to America during The Famine in the 19th Century and it’s quite likely that this was the last view they saw of Ireland. Similarly for some of the passengers on the “Titanic” which stopped there en route to it’s altercation with an iceberg.
