For over 350 years the Earls of Meath and their families have protected and maintained the gardens at Killruddery House in County Wicklow. It was William, the third Lord Meath, who visited Versailles at the courts of Louis XIV, where he came to admire the grand, geometrical style of Baroque gardening.
On his return to Ireland in 1682, he began to construct the garden that is now Ireland’s only unchanged seventeenth-century, classically inspired, French garden seen here in this early morning view of the house, demesne and surrounding countryside.
Hooly crow, I just looked , thand to Roland, your last 10 photos , up to the waves or so …you’re really talented !
The B&W right after is so romantic.
This photo makes me want to come for a visit
Take care
The images you take of places like this, George, are better than the tourist flyers. Have your images ever been used in publications? I hope so, but if not, why not!!!!
