Still in the Irish Gardens….although Lismore Castle was largely re-built in the Gothic style during the mid-nineteenth century by the 6th Duke of Devonshire, much of the gardens are older. The Upper Garden is a complete example of Jacobean walled garden first constructed about 1605; while the outer walls and terraces have remained unchanged, the plantings have changed to match the tastes of those living within the Castle.
The Lower Garden was mostly made in the 19th century and is informal with shrubs, trees and lawns. It is now used to exhibit contemporary sculpture and the photograph above shows the ‘Cornwall Slate Line’ by Richard Long.
Beautiful castle & light ! I like the point the angle that you’ve chosed and always this depht of field of your pictures.
Since I visit your site, I dream to visit Ireland, to meet people and to admire those incredible lights and fantastic landscapes. That will be done really soon now. Thanks for all your pictures and for those you’ll post George

Incidentally, another view of the castle can be seen in an earlier posting at http://www.coppercoastworkshops.com/minimalistics/irish-landscapes/castle-in-the-air.

One of the things that I like more of you gallery is the way that you represent the places as they are. Always natural photos. You are very good.
