Irish gardens are wonderful. The temperate climate is very conducive to growing a wide range of plants; indeed, on the the limestone pavements of the Burren in County Clare, polar and sub-tropical wildflower species grow side by side.
With such wonderful growing conditions it’s not surprising that Ireland has produced some great gardeners and equally some quite superb gardens; and over the years I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to shoot in many of them. Very occasionally I focus on flowers, but normally I tend to use a broader brush stroke to show the design and ambience of the gardens.
So with spring in the air I thought it would be a good time to include some in my photo-blog. I’ll probably post five shots from any one garden each week and write a small introduction on the first day – starting next week – but it won’t be to the total exclusion of other genres. I hope that you enjoy them …george…
The view in today’s pic is probably unrepeatable; the a-symmetric angle of the wonderful Victorian wrought iron work can no longer be seen in all its glory now that the glass house is full of huge palm trees, creepers and other huge exotic plants.
It’s great that you had the opportunity to shoot this without the vegetation in the way, though I must say I’d like to see it now that it is full of plants. I reckon this must make a great large format print!

I tried to re-shoot it from the same angle a little while ago – but, if you’ll forgive the pun – I couldn’t see the glass for trees!

Perfect simetry. I like the tone of the shot, perhaps a black and white would be nice too but not as soft as this.
Congratulations again for dominate the dynamic range of your camera perfectly.
